Americans vote on November 4 for a new president to succeed George W. Bush. While the process is a long one – two years of campaigning – it has drawn the attention of the world. Key issues are the U.S. economy and its affect on average Americans and the war in Iraq. The candidates’ choices for vice president have also caused much debate. Obama’s pick of political veteran Senator Joe Biden caused some analysts to question the ticket’s “Change” slogan. McCain’s pick of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, caused some analysts to question her experience in U.S. and global issues. The winner will become the 44th president of the U. S. and replace George W. Bush, who took office in January 2001.
